The Lord's Food Bank is a Christian ministry seeking to supply both the physical and spiritual food to the needy of Rocky Mountain house and district. It is our purpose to demonstrate the love of the Lord Jesus Christ for those seeking help, while being good stewards of the resources entrusted to us.
To this end we require clients' source of income and medical numbers of all in their homes. This is kept on computer.
The Lord's Food Bank's governing board is the Rocky Mountain House Ministerial Association. We are open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 am - 2:30 pm and 11:30 am - 1:30 pm during the summer.
We give out hampers with enough food for three days
Two hampers per month are permitted, but not both in the same week.
We offer spiritual guidance and prayer.
A message is given by one of the clergy from the Rocky Ministerial.
We provide lunch for anyone who feels they need a meal or fellowship.
A food bank is a place where food is gathered, stored, and distributed.
2. Why are there food banks?
Because there are always some who are in genuine need.
3. Where does the food come from?
From the Reclamation system involving many different grocery stores. We also receive food from various churches, schools, social clubs, businesses and individuals.
4. How many people use the Food Bank per month?
The Lord's Food Bank gives out 300 - 400 hampers per month feeding 1000 - 1400 people. We also run a soup kitchen Tuesdays and Thursdays feeding about 1200 people per month.
5. Who can use the Food Bank?
Any resident of Rocky Mountain House and District who are under the poverty line. Also we provide for people in emergency situations. See "Criteria to Receive a Food Hamper".
